Course Description/ NSG 300: Foundations of Nursing
  This course introduces the nursing process and focuses on the development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills in the application of the nursing process in planning safe, culturally sensitive, client-centered care. Students are introduced to concepts of health and physiologic and psychosocial alterations. The underlying theoretical concepts related to fundamental nursing skills are introduced. Prerequisite: Admission into the nursing program. Co-Requisite: NSG-300C or NSG-300CA.   Course Objectives: The following are the overall objectives for this course:
  1. Utilize critical thinking in the application of the nursing process to plan client care that promotes physiologic and psychosocial integrity.
  2. Apply the steps of the nursing process to create a sensitive, client-centered plan of care.
  3. Examine the role of safety and continuous quality improvement in creating positive client outcomes.
