For this Written Response Assessment, you will develop a rough draft of an argumentative essay in preparation for your Final Written Assessment in Competency EC1005.

This Assessment requires submission of one (1) document, your Rough Draft Argumentative Essay. Save your files as follows: EC1004_RoughDraft_firstinitial_lastname (for example, EC1004_RoughDraft_J_Smith). Copy and paste the outline you created in EC1003 at the end of your essay.
You may submit a draft of your assignment to the Turnitin Draft Check area to check for authenticity. When you are ready to upload your completed Assessment, use the Assessment tab on the top navigation menu.
Instructions
Before submitting your Assessment, carefully review the rubric. This is the same rubric the assessor will use to evaluate your submission and it provides detailed criteria describing how to achieve or master the Competency. Many students find that understanding the requirements of the Assessment and the rubric criteria help them direct their focus and use their time most productively.

Access the following to complete this Assessment:
- Your completed pre-writing Assessment from EC1002.
- Your completed Written Response from EC1003.
- Revising and Proofreading to Develop a Final Draft Unit Summary
- Taking Action in Your Community Project Overview
- Review your completed Assessment from Competency EC1002: Developing Coherent Sentences and Paragraphs. Review your Written Response Template from EC1003: Developing a Thesis and Outline.
- Use your Outline as a guide to draft a 3- to 4-page Argumentative Essay that does the following:
- Describes the social challenge in your local community that you’ve selected.
- Identifies your position on the challenge and your proposal for improvement.
- Presents at least two arguments for why this proposal should be followed.
- Supports those arguments with information from a scholarly article.
- Concludes with a call to action.
- Copy and paste the Outline you created in your EC1003 Developing a Thesis and Outline Template document, so your faculty assessor can refer to it as they review your Argumentative Essay rough draft.
- Format your Argumentative Essay rough draft, according to APA guidelines. There are two options below to help with this:
