Solution to UNV-103: University Success - Topic 4 DQ 2.

SAMPLE 1

Hello class,

Grand Canyon University (GCU) has provided room for me to transition to a career of my choice, nonetheless, establishing strong support systems is a crucial step I have to take in my journey. While attending college and work means less time with my long-time support network of family and friends, I recognize the need to cultivate new relationships that will encourage both my academic and personal well-being.

Upon reflection of the campus resources, I have realized that I am not familiar with any pre-existing groups specifically aimed at supporting nursing majors. To fill this gap, I plan to start a peer support group of my own that brings together other BSN students. First, I will reach out to my classmates in the nursing program to gauge interest in forming a study and support group. I am convinced that by developing communication with people who have the same expectations in studying and facing same challenges, we will be able to create a supportive environment and group. Our group would meet bi-weekly to discuss coursework struggles, share study strategies, and provide a sympathetic ear during periods of heightened stress or self-doubt that are common in nursing education.

In addition to facilitating connections with classmates, the group will aim to foster wellness through promoting healthy coping mechanisms for managing stress. Some of the activities will include online interactive discussions thus encouraging transparency around issues like test anxiety. This will create an environment focused on both intellectual and emotional support. Oluwaseyi (2024) underlines that peer support groups can significantly improve academic performance, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being among nursing students. As a result, I am committed to creating a support system that addresses both my academic and personal wellness needs. By taking the initiative to form this group I believe I can create a supportive environment that will not only benefit me but also my fellow nursing students at the university. This proactive approach will help ensure that we have the necessary support to thrive in our challenging but rewarding field of study.
