HIST 120: World History to 1500- Module 7: From Tumult to Globalization, Europe in the 14th and 15th Centuries
The fourteenth century was a tough one for Europe. The Black Death hit and killed around one-third of the population, in some places, like the cities, up to a half of the people. The Hundred Years' War between France and England caused massive devastation. Still, the fourteenth century saw the beginnings of the so-called Italian Renaissance and witnessed the creation or expansion of structures that would, in the fifteenth century, result in a great increase of global commerce and set the stage for European exploration and the first real wave of both globalization and capitalism.
