Competency Description:
Most people enjoy a good competition. You may have participated in a competitive
game at a family gathering or party. Team members collaborate as they share their
knowledge and devise strategies to beat their opponents. It may be a bit more thrilling to
win than to lose such a contest, but when the stakes are low, even the losing team can
have an enjoyable experience.
Earth is home to many competitions, such as those for resources or for territory.
However, unlike the friendly matchup at a family gathering, the stakes are high. In this
Competency, you will explore the struggles that occur on Earth as the human population
and numberless other species compete for essential resources. You will examine the
impact of humans on the environment, as well as the importance of maintaining
biodiversity.
This Written Response Assessment consists of eleven items regarding human’s impact
on and management of the environment.
Assessment Submission Length: 11 items with responses ranging from 2–5
paragraphs in length
