This topic explains renal anatomy and physiology, providing student with knowledge of how the kidneys are responsible for nutrient retention and waste removal. This will include functionality of the nephron, and how hormones and hydration influence the activity of the nephron. Objectives:
  1. Describe the macroscopic and microscopic structure of the kidneys in the context of renal function.
  2. Describe the process of and the factors that influence filtration, reabsorption, and secretion.
  3. Explain osmolarity.
  4. Describe the micturition reflex.
