Hello class,

Throughout this course, one important lesson I have learned is that when incorporating credible sources in our work is crucial for establishing accuracy. This can be achieved through in-text citations and referring to give credit to the original authors of the ideas we use. According to Chapter 2 of Writing with Purpose by Grand Canyon University (2022), an effective in-text citation should have three parts: the head, the body, and the tail. Based on this information, below is a citation I plan to use in my evaluation essay on the NIMH website.

"Authority refers to how correct the website or document is and can be determined by assessing who authored the website, whether they can be contacted, and whether the author has the proper credibility to write about the topic in question" (Grand Canyon University, 2022). By using this citation, I am certain the reader will first understand what authority is before proceeding to my argument on why I think the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) website illustrates authority.

Additionally, following insights from the same chapter, I can use a different head/body/tail combination. For example, According to Grand Canyon University (2022), accuracy refers to the qualifications of the website or document and relates to who the publisher is, what institution has published the information, and whether they are qualified to address the topic. This citation will still be effective in supporting my argument. I believe by using these different head/body/tail combinations, I can effectively demonstrate the authority and accuracy of the NIMH website in my evaluation essay. These citations will not only support my argument but also show my ability to integrate credible sources into my writing, as emphasized in Chapter 2 of Writing with Purpose.
