The respiratory system is a series of structures and organs leading to gas exchange, along with the circulatory system. Students can take this foundational knowledge and apply it to various respiratory diseases and conditions in order to understand the pathophysiology of such conditions.
Objectives:
1. Describe the relationship between the cardiovascular and respiratory system.
2. Identify the structures of the respiratory system at the macroscopic and microscopic level.
3. Describe the functions of the upper and lower respiratory system.
4. Identify the volumes and capacities of air exchanged during ventilation.
